Picnic Bay Campsite

This is a scenic area with walking, sea kayaking, motor boating, kayaking, fishing and bird watching.

Pioneer Park Campsite

Short walks are nearby, and you can visit historic Burkes Cottage. Do not camp in flood zone if heavy rain or thunderstorms are forecast.

Pipi Beach Campsite

This scenic campsite is a great base for water-based activities and picnicking.

Piripiri Campsite

Piripiri Campsite is closed.

Piropiro Campsite

This is a basic campsite in the Waitomo/Pureora area. From here, explore forest roads by car or mountain bike.

Pleasant Flat Campsite

This is a standard campsite in the Wanaka/Makarora area. Take in the magnificent views of Mt Hooker from the campsite. Fish in nearby Haast River, enjoy short walks or picnics.

Pohangina Base Campsite

Pokaka Mill Campsite

A basic campsite in the Ruapehu area.

Port Jackson Campsite

At the northern tip of the Peninsula, this campsite is at the water’s edge next to the beach. At the eastern end of the campsite, the Muriwai Coastal Walk leads up the headland towards Wharekaiatua Pa and along the coast, with stunning coastal views.

Port William Campsite

This is a basic Great Walk campsite on Stewart Island/Rakiura. It is on a grassy area with Magnetic Beach directly in front of it. It is protected from the prevailing westerly winds by forest.

Poukaria Campsite

This is a boat-in only campsite on the Whanganui Journey. There is no drive on access.

Puhi Puhi Campsite

Puketī Recreation Area Campsite

Camp at the eastern edge of the forest, close to kauri trees. Look out for kiwi and short-tailed bats. This is an ideal base for day or overnight tramps.

Purakaunui Bay Campsite

Camp on the coast at this standard campsite.

Puriri Bay (Whangaruru North Head) Campsite

Overlooking the mouth of Whangaruru Harbour, this campsite has sheltered waters for swimming and boating activities, and a series of interconnected walks.

Putangirua Pinnacles Campsite

Sited beside the Putangirua Stream with views of Cook Strait and a pebbly beach across the road. You can drive to the seal colony near Cape Palliser lighthouse.

Putanui Point Campsite

Popular with sea kayakers, with a small, rocky beach

Raetea North Side Campsite

Take a break at the northern foot of Raetea, a lowland coastal forest situated in the Mangamuka Gorge.

Rarangi Campsite

Camp next to the beach. Fish, walk, picnic, or simply sit and enjoy the roar of the waves.

Rarawa Beach Campsite

Camp along a river bank nestled amongst trees a stone's throw away from Rarawa’s beautiful white sandy beach.
